Introduction to Peter Gläsel Foundation

The Peter Gläsel Foundation has been launched at the 40 th Anniversary of the Weidmueller Company in 1988 by its owner Peter Gläsel, and has celebrated its own 20 th Anniversary in 2008.

Before 2007 Peter Gläsel Foundation has formally operated under the name “Weidmueller Stiftung”. Since February of 2007 it resides in Detmold, Allee 15. The foundation sees its primary goal in the support of education for children, youths and students.

In previous years the cooperation between schools, universities and businesses has been encouraged in the Region of East Westfalia and Lippe. Students of different branches of study have been supported as well as scientific research of their universities. Concepts in regards to the change from school to work have been developed and through a wide range of projects put into practice. The support is not only of financial nature, but is delivered through shared proficiencies, organisational and non-materialistic means.

Since 1997 about 150 scholarships have been granted, roughly 20 every year.
The 2.500 Euro worth Peter Gläsel Award goes to students with exceptional accomplishments at one of four regional universities. Until today over 140 students have benefited from this award.

With the reorientation of the foundation's direction at the beginning of 2008 current activities have been developed further and are now complemented by many new projects also in the cultural realm, serving the goal to support the education in the context of Day Care, school and university.
